Peterson Stroboclip HD Review

Peterson Strobeclip HD attached to the guitar

Like many other Peterson products, I am well aware that even their clip-on tuners are some of the best in the industry.

The Peterson StroboClip HD is a clip-on tuner that boasts incredible accuracy (0.1 cents) and a high-definition display. It includes over 50 alternate tunings and historic temperaments, making it versatile for a variety of instruments besides the guitar.

The wide clamp allows for easy attachment to various headstocks, and the bright display is visible even in sunlight. Overall, this tuner is a great option for professional musicians or anyone who prioritizes superior tuning accuracy.

Join me as I am about to share my thoughts about the popular tuner in this Peterson Stroboclip HD review.

Unboxing Stroboclip HD

The StroboClip HD arrives in a compact box that contains the tuner itself, a CR2032 battery, and a user manual. Taking the tuner out of the box, the first impression is of solidity and quality, despite its plastic construction.

The clip feels robust and secure, with a soft rubber lining that cradles your instrument’s headstock protecting the finish from any scratches or marks.

The buttons on the front of the tuner are large and clear, and their positive-click action provides satisfying feedback when pressed.

Tuning Accuracy of Peterson Stroboclip HD

The heart of the Peterson StroboClip HD is its unmatched tuning accuracy, and I can really see the difference. With a claimed tenth-of-a-cent accuracy, it far surpasses most clip-on tuners on the market.

The visual representation of tuning with the strobe tuner is unique and easy to understand. Instead of a needle moving on a dial, the StroboClip HD uses a strobe to achieve perfection.

Instead of a needle, there’s a wheel set in motion. The further I am from the tune, it moves faster. Once it is stationary, you are perfectly in tune. This visual representation makes it easy to achieve and lock in super precise tuning.

Display and Power Options for Peterson Clip On Strobe Tuner

The high-definition backlit display is a major selling point for me. It’s bright and clear, and the wide viewing angle makes it easy to see the tuning status from any position on stage, even if I’m moving around a lot.

I also appreciate that the buttons are large and have a positive-click action, so I can easily make adjustments in low-light situations without fumbling around. However, unlike some other tuners, there is no backlight adjustment, and the StroboClip HD is not rechargeable. It runs on a single CR2032 battery, which is included. While I haven’t had to replace the battery yet, it’s something to keep in mind if you plan on using this tuner a lot.

Peterson has made a version that can be recharged — Peterson Stroboclip HDC.
